Ragged Falls – 60″ x 48″, Original Acrylic on Canvas

E. Robert Ross has been a full time artist since 1975, exhibiting primarily in Southern Ontario with solo exhibitions at the public Art Galleries of Hamilton and Burlington, as well as in private galleries. He was born and raised in the Hamilton area, where he currently resides with his wife, having lived on the west coast of Canada for a number of years.

Robert’s paintings have the perfect balance between painterly style and hyper-realism. “An early interest in the work of landscape photographers led me to a realistic style of painting, in acrylics. However, the most important part of painting landscapes, for me, is the symbolism of the elements, and the association one can imagine from the depiction of the scenes. I always hope to suggest “going beyond” the landscapes. It is the underlying spirit of nature that ties the landscape together with our human existence.” – Robert Ross

We have a number of great reproductions and original paintings from Robert Ross to fit all budgets and wall sizes. Robert has painted in many areas of North America, so if there is a place that is special to you please ask us if we have a painting of that area.

“I’m Still Here II” is a continuation of a collection of paintings where we see Lorimer pushing the boundaries between landscape and abstraction. Creating this series of work only from his imagination, it is quintessentially “Lorimer”, bold, assertive and exploding with colour.

This project is about the environment and the damage done. However, rather than illustrate the scars we’ve inflicted he chooses to show the beauty. Lorimer believes there is hope in nature. He says, “Collectively we need to stop and realize that nature has the power to steer us back on course. Nature has always been our guide and right now she is screaming ‘I’m Still Here’, we just have to listen”. – Brian Lorimer

BRIAN LORIMER’S BIOGRAPHY

In 1995 Brian created a successful mural business, Lorimer Studios Inc.. Over an 8 year period he employed as many as 10 artists full-time and freelance to assist him in executing over 150 murals. All of the murals were custom designed – hand painted works of fine art – acrylic on canvas and installed on location for a variety of clients throughout the USA and Canada. He then retired to focus on personal projects.
One project involved traveling 800kms of mostly back roads from Addis Ababa to Ethiopia’s Omo Valley. This is one of the most remote places on earth, and is home to remote tribes of people that have been living the same way for centuries.
Project Remembrance saw Lorimer travelling to Belgium and France for inspiration. This somber series of paintings were based on World War 1. An homage to the brave people who fought.
Brian’s paintings are known for their bold, vivid colors. There is also a way that Brian mixes textures and styles to create an almost collage-like portrait or landscape. This of course makes for a very unique and striking image.

David Grieve lives in Brantford Ontario with his wife and three sons. This is an area with a lot of sprawling farmland and forests which is where David finds his muse. He will often focus on lone trees in farm fields. Usually a tree changing color, when it is in its most vibrant state. His bright palette reflects the rich tones of a countryside that is changing constantly. The family cabin and studio also provides inspiration. David’s paintings of cottage country are very popular. Towering pines and luminous shorelines are some of David’s best work.

David’s rural scenes capture Southern Ontario and beyond with a multi-layered approach and a broad brush. He uses thick strokes of oil paint in an impressionistic translation of a landscape. David rarely cleans his brushes. As a result he achieves dramatic, chunky swaths of paint. This is the style that he is loved for.

Throughout his painting career David received numerous awards and scholarships. His solo and group exhibitions have entered into public and commercial galleries in the U.S. and in Canada.
Fire Land by Dominik Modlinski

Fire Land – 60″ x 40″, Original Oil on Canvas

Biography

Dominik Modlinski moved to Canada from Poland at the age of 17. He graduated with honors from the Ontario College of Art in 1993. Dominik developed a love for the Canadian wilderness while studying landscape painters like the Group of Seven. For him, a painting doesn’t just tell a story, it tells of adventure. Therefore, the journey is just as important as the destination. The ever-changing rugged landscapes and four seasons of Canada offer limitless inspiration for this mountain-man and plein-air painter. Because of this Dominik travels for weeks at a time, immersing himself in isolated areas to capture landscapes seldom seen in vivid oil paint.

His travels have taken him all over the globe. From the Arctic to the Antarctic, Dominik has been on countless extreme painting expeditions where untouched wilderness remains. As we witness its destruction, Dominik aims to capture the beauty of this planet that needs to be preserved. Above all, Dominik is connected to the natural worlds that he is surrounded by.

Modlinski is known for his bold and intense palette that interprets the dramatic impression of a landscape. Oil paint offers such a rich, lustrous color which is perfect for Dominik’s style. His paintings have such an opulent and energetic nature that make them larger than life.

Follow Dominik from your television on “Changing Landscapes”, a series that captures his journey. This show is currently running on Shaw TV. Witness this great artist paint his way across Vancouver Island, Peru, Bolivia, Sri Lanka and Gauemala.
